I buy things like candlesticks and sconces at thrift shops, then paint them for the different seasons/holidays.

I'll be doing this, too!  And no serving dishes to wash!  Throw them in the field for the critters or on compost pile).

Some Halloween Fun

Torso, my son's tortoise.  Looks like he may have done some bath salts.....  Just strawberries.  But makes for a great creepy Halloween pic!

So, uh, yeah.  I thought it would be real funny to put this in between the screen and window in the bathroom so that when my hubby looked in the mirror he'd catch a glimpse.  Ask me how many times I've scared the crap out of myself!

Wallet-friendly Renovating!

So, I like to feel like I'm on vacation.  All of the time.  I guess that's why I love my white sheets and white towels.  My bathroom, for whatever reason, makes me feel that way, as well.  Basin sink from Overstock.com, about $38.  Faucet from Home Depot.  "Vanity" is a flea market find--a $3 table--too short so I added finials on the bottom, about $4 each.  White cabinet, flea market, 3 for $15.  Mirror, three bucks at a lawn sale.   Cool soaps, a Christmas gift from Eileen at Dove Cottage.  This room just makes me caaaaalm and happy.  :)

So, I hope my aunt never sees this.  She had this hair!  And I remember my mother telling me she had to sleep on her elbows and knees to not mess it up at night.  .So glad that was before my time.  Hair would look great, but I wouldn't be able to walk....

DIY Decorating: Fun, Easy, and Inexpensive!

I have to confess, Halloween is my favorite for which to decorate!  And I also have to confess that I have never thought to throw white sheets on my furniture!  I love this!  I have, however, bought candelabras here and there at lawn sales and thrift stores and painted them black.  Spider webbing found at dollar stores (even comes with gnarly black plastic spiders)!
